This sophisticated and sexy screening room makes a splash with pops of red and gorgeous hand-carved wall panels. Principal Designer @ J.W. McCarter & Associates, Joseph W. McCarter, experienced the unexpected pleasure of creating this wonderful space not once, but twice, when several years after completion it was partially destroyed in a flood.

The subtle Asian inspired design of this lovely screening room incorporates hand carved teak wall screens imported from Bali, paired with back-lit silver mica diffusers that create a soft, warm glow to set the perfect scene for viewing a favorite film.

Alternating, decorative wall panels upholstered with beautiful cherry blossom motif fabric provide visual interest and acoustic dampening.

The screening room walls are upholstered in luxurious velvet to further enhance sound quality and create a truly exceptional viewing/listening experience.

Uber comfortable, black leather “Lexington” incliners by Fortress Seating provide the ultimate in custom home theater seating. This screening room offers a custom seating configuration that combines loveseats with individual recliners to make it easy to get comfortable in your own leather recliner, or to sit with your special someone in a cozy love seat. Full house up front? No worries.

This screening room offers additional bar-height seating in back with convenient access to the custom snack bar. Dim the lights please!!

If you’ve ever hunted for a new home, you know the difference between a tract and custom home. It’s all about details: the step-up fixtures and fittings, bespoke tile, or tailor-made kitchen cabinets.Likewise, at FORTRESS Seating, every chair is created with that same attention to detail.

Design Details                       

When you look at FORTRESS models, such as our Guild design, ‘cookie cutter’ is hardly the phrase that comes to mind. That’s because this model is adorned with fringe, tufting, gilded nail heads, luxurious fabric and cup holders that are powder coated to match. Whether the arm is up or down the seating looks like a sofa with a continuous back cushion.

Dress Elements like nail heads, embroidered logos, piping, contrasting stitching, diamond stitching, fringe, tufting and custom wood feet, are just a few ways to dress up your unique design.

Make Room for Storage

Let’s face it, in most home theaters and media rooms, there isn’t a lot of room for storage. Likely any usable space in a high-tech room will be gobbled up by equipment racks, sound treatments, and speakers. That’s why we give our customers options for storage within the seating itself. From armrest to ottoman, hinged opening or sliding drawers, there are plenty of ways to create space in your room. Featured here is the Manhattan Chaise with storage for blankets, pillows, or anything you need to stow.

Tray Tables Add Convenience

Having a flat surface in your theater is handy, especially when snacks, or even laptops, are involved. That’s why you need a tray table, which can easily be added to FORTRESS Seating models. We have options like illuminated inset table tops, a removable tray that fits into your cup holder or our 1st Class Motorized Tray Table that is concealed within the cavity of the arm. When not in use, it stays out of sight.

‘Customization’ is a term that’s loosely thrown around when it comes to home design. Many companies offer one style of sofa in several different fabrics and sizes and call it a day. Fortress Seating, however, takes the term “customization” very seriously.

Made to Order

For one, FORTRESS doesn’t begin making any seating until an order is placed. The company’s warehouse is not full of standardized chairs waiting to be shipped. And while it may take a little longer to get your seating, clients can get everything from popular models and sizes in popular fabrics and finishes, to anything they can dream up.

For example, one interior designer client came in with an image from a fashion design magazine. It was a picture of a stylish sitting room highlighting a set of ornately patterned, Victorian-style, tasseled chairs. The customer wanted theater chairs that would mimic this style, but look like a couch from behind and theater chairs from the front. Armed with only this magazine photo, FORTRESS went to work.

The team made sketches, pulled samples, and built a prototype to show the customer for approval. The client loved them! This completely custom set of theater seats now sits in the client’s home theater, featuring, plush velvet, golden tassles, and exactly the look the client wanted: Pocket Arms, Fortress Seating’s most popular accessory divide the couch into individual seats, accomplishing the look of theater seats from the front, sofa from the back.

Made to Fit

Another great example of FORTRESS’ dedication to customization is a theater with a curved back wall that could not be altered. Armed with CAD drawings from the installer, FORTRESS went to work to create theater seats that would work within the room’s odd dimensions. Using plywood, FORTRESS went above and beyond, building a template to scale to see how these seats might lay out.

“We like to see how it will all layout, exactly, before we build it,” says Gabi Wolper, vice president of Fortress Seating. “In this theater the installer wanted three seating areas, so we are experimenting with shapes, sizes, and accessories to see how it will all fit in the room.”
